MISSIONS

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess His name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Hebrews 13:15-16

Small country churches are often challenged to raise funds to support local, caring organizations that serve our own rural populations. Each November the Selbu Women host it’s Annual Bazaar—a tradition that has been around for many, many years!  Following Worship Service and our monthly Potluck, the Bazaar is a favorite with bidding, teasing our auctioneers, and raising money each year to support local services, such as these:

  • Whitman County Chaplain

  • LaCrosse Fire Department

  • LaCrosse Community Outreach

  • Union Gospel Mission

  • Ogden Hall

  • Lutheran Community Services

  • Homestead Ministries

  • Salvation Army

  • Samaritan’s Purse

  • American Bible Society

  • Vacation Bible School Camp (Community of Faith)

If you wish to assist with this effort, contact selbulutheranchurch@gmail.com

Many thanks to all who assist and donate to our Selbu Bazaar & support our local missions.

STEWARDSHIP

An intelligent mind acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

Proverbs 18:15

For years Selbu Lutheran Church has donated to Union Gospel Mission & Ogden Hall in Spokane. In addition, Selbu has supported Lutheran World Relief with Personal Care Kits. LWR reported an increased need for School Kits—so the last couple of years, our Selbu Women have purchased and assembled 100 backpacks & supplies. Education is important for every community, especially where poverty or disaster has limited the options for young people to reach their potential.

Our Selbu Sunday School Kids enjoy helping assemble the backpacks & boxing them up to be delivered to St. Luke Lutheran Church in Spokane. The backpacks are then shipped to LWR headquarters and distributed around the world. Last year the Selbu backpacks were delivered to young children in Ecuador.

Thank you to all for your continued support & donations to our Annual Stewardship Projects.
